Every year, Jamaicans and Bahamians have the opportunity to go to France teaching English during 7 months, via the “Poste d’assistants Program” from the International Centre for Pedagogic Studies (CIEP : http://www.ciep.fr/)
The French Government is allocating some positions to Jamaican English Language Assistants each academic year. These positions are available in mainland France as well as in the French overseas departments of Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Assistants will be asked to teach 12 hours weekly, either in a primary or secondary school, for a 7 months period, generally from October to April each year. They will receive a monthly allowance, subject to change, of 790 Euros (around 94 000 JMD at the current exchange rate), while the round trip to France will be at the selected candidates’ expenses.
This program is open to Jamaican/Bahamian professionals and students aged 20 to 30. All candidates should have the equivalent of an Associate Degree and a fair knowledge of spoken French (DELF/Level B1).
Application forms for the 2013-2014 school year should be available from mid-October 2012 at the French Embassy, the Alliance Française, UWI, Shortwood TC, NCU or online on the website of CIEP.
